Calling All Equine Photographers!

The 2025 IALHA Calendar Contest is now open, and this year’s edition is extra special as we celebrate our 30th anniversary!

We invite all photographers—professionals, hobbyists, and enthusiasts—to participate by submitting their finest photographs of IALHA-registered purebred or half-bred Andalusians, Lusitanos, or S/Ps.

A Special Invitation:

In recognition of IALHA’s 30th anniversary, we encourage members to delve into their archives and rediscover treasured photos from the past to submit along with current ones. These historical images, alongside new captures, will help create a unique and memorable anniversary edition of our calendar.

Capture the Magic

Showcase the beauty and versatility of these majestic breeds through your lens. Each participant can submit up to three photos for consideration.

Recognition and Exposure

Our Media and Promotions Committee will review all entries and select 13 images to feature in our anniversary edition calendar!

The selected photos and their photographers will be showcased in the calendar. In addition, the horses, photographers, owners, and breeders being recognized across various platforms such as social media, our website, and marketing materials throughout the year.

Additionally, along with all lifetime members, photographers and horse owners of the those selected for inclusion will receive a complementary calendar. Calendars will be available for presale in December.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure, celebrate our community, and share stories.

Join Us in Celebrating Our Legacy

We encourage everyone to contribute to this special contest that will honor 30 years of magnificent Andalusians and Lusitanos. Your participation will help create a keepsake that celebrates our rich history and the beautiful horses we cherish.


Entry Rules and Guidelines

Theme and Criteria: Preference will be given to photographs that best represent and promote a purbred or half-bred Andalusian or Lusitano and showcases their use, beauty, type, conformation, heritage, versatility, and/or temperament. The IALHA committee’s decisions regarding selection are final.

 Eligibility: The contest is open to photographers of all types, including amateurs, hobbyists, and professionals. To be eligible, the submitted photograph(s) must:

  • Feature an IALHA-registered horse.
  • Appropriately represent a purebred or half-bred Andalusian or Lusitano horse.
  • Be clear, in focus, and high resolution.
  • Each entrant may submit up to three (3) separate and different entries.

 Entry: To participate, complete and submit the entry form which includes:

  • Subject details:  Image title and/or horse’s name and details (breed, age, gender, parents).
  • Photographer Information: Contact information for photographer and owner as well as image of the photographer
  • Story: a brief write-up sharing the story behind the photo. For guidance, see previous image stories on our weblog [https://ialha.org/the-ialha-blog]
  • Digital File upload: A high-resolution digital file of the image; jpg, jpeg or png) 500 KB or larger to ensure optimal quality.
  • Originality: Attestation that the photograph(s) submitted is (are) original, unaltered, and taken by the photographer and/or owned by the entrant.
  • Permissions: Acknowledgement of agreement granting IALHA permission to use the image(s) in whole or in part for the calendar, as well as other publications or advertisements (both print and online), the IALHA website, and social media. Proper photo credit will always be given.
