Thank you for your participation and contribution to the Andalusian/Lusitano breed and equestrian sport. The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and the USEF Andalusian/Lusitano Committee strives to ensure fairness, safety and enjoyment for all Andalusian/Lusitano exhibitors, owners and officials. In looking back at 2017 and beginning a new competition year, we recognize there are always areas where we can improve and better serve you.
The USEF Andalusian/Lusitano Committee would like to provide clarity on a rule which caused some confusion during 2017. The language for that rule is as follows:
SUBCHAPTER AL-3 PERFORMANCE CLASSES
AL110 General
UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE, IN ALL CLASSES WHERE HORSES COMPETE COLLECTIVELY:
12. There will be no cross entries allowed between the following sections at any IALHA sanctioned competition.
a. Formal Driving/Formal Saddle
b. Show Pleasure Driving/English Pleasure Saddle Seat
c. Country Pleasure Driving/Country English Pleasure
d. Pleasure Driving
The above mentioned rule only prohibits cross entry within the sections listed and not other classes. For instance, a horse shown in formal driving is prohibited from showing in show pleasure driving. This rule is meant to restrict based on performance of a horse and has nothing to do with the rider; therefore, horses in these sections would not be restricted from equitation or other classes not listed within the chapter.
We recognize there was some confusion with this rule and hope the above rule interpretation answers any questions you might have regarding cross entering in the classes listed in AL110.12.
