USEF HOTY Awards

The United States Equestrian Federation’s Horse of the Year (HOTY) award program is one of the oldest nationally recognized multi-breed awards programs in the country.  IALHA is an Affiliate of USEF and points earned by placing at rated A/L shows count toward A/L HOTY divisions annually, and are automatically tabulated. 

To be eligible, ensure that you and your IALHA registered Purebred or Halfbred Andalusian or Lusitano USEF registrations are up to date at the start of the show.

To be eligible for USEF Horse of the Year Awards the following registrations are required:

  • The horse must be Recorded with the USEF (annual or life). 
  • The owner currently listed on the Horse Recording Certificate must be a USEF Active Member or Recorded Farm/Business of the Federation.  The horse must be entered in USEF shows under this owner’s name for points to accrue.

HOTY results become official at the end of the annual competition season on November 30. If your Andalusian or Lusitano is among the top point earners, you may find yourself the proud winner of a HOTY ribbon and be invited to attend the annual awards banquet!
