Photo Library Project

Photo Library Project

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

IALHA members, you’re invited to be a part of a very special project to promote the Andalusian and Lusitano through images.

Earlier this year, USEF announced an effort to build a library of photos for their use in promoting affiliate breeds and disciplines. They are looking for photos that depict the joy that horses bring to our lives.

We want the Andalusian and Lusitano to be well represented in this library to increase the likelihood that images are used in USEF advertising – which has a large reach.

USEF is collecting images specific to each breed affiliate as well as all of the disciplines. We know you’re using your IALHA registered horses in every division –  Dressage, Driving, English, Eventing, Hunt, Jumping, Trail, Western – as well as simply enjoying with your family and friends.  We’ll be able to share with the broader USEF audience that our horses can do it all!

Imagine:  you and your horse(s) could in the running to represent the entire breed or your chosen discipline in the USEF photo library!

Recent stay-at-home orders have resulted in many of us having time on our hands to devote to tasks we’ve long been meaning to get to. And, you’re no doubt aware the cancelation of many horse shows has created large schedule openings and loss of income for many professional photographers.

We feel all this opens up an exciting opportunity that has the potential to benefit many.  Images have the ability to inspire, and will communicate what IALHA members love about Andalusians and Lusitanos to a broad audience.

If you have some extra time right now, why not go through your photographs and select some that fit the criteria for the USEF photo library?

While you’re looking, consider entering the 2021 IALHA Calendar Photo Contest as well! As long as the image specifications are met, the only criteria to enter the annual Calendar Contest is for the photo to be recent – the last two years.

However, older photos that meet the specs may be submitted for consideration for the USEF library

Although it is NOT required that photographers be professional, if you are in a position to do so, please consider hiring one to do a farm shoot.  This could easily be accomplished while still maintaining a physical distance.

Not only would you have a goal to work towards, but you’ll also employ an artist in our industry.  The result will be images to submit, as well as a collection of pictures to use in your own advertising or record-keeping.  Additionally, you’ll create or renew a partnership with someone whose livelihood depends on the equine industry.

In both efforts (this project and the Calendar contest), the horse must be IALHA registered – purebred Spanish, Portuguese, S/P or half-bred.

You will see entry information go out on social media for the Calendar contest because it is open to anyone, but this letter about the USEF photo library is being sent exclusively to current members.

We hope that you seize the opportunity to be a part of this amazing venture. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to ialhapublications@nullgmail.com or marketing@nullialha.org .  We are happy to assist.

Guidelines:

  • Desirable photos will highlight the Joy horses bring into our lives.  Those that depict the diversity (e.g. age, gender, race, physical ability, veteran status, etc) of the people who participate in equestrian sport, as well as behind-the-scenes at horse shows, coaching, horse husbandry and care, and grassroots shots will be given preference.
  • * To be eligible for the USEF library, riders/drivers in photos must be shown wearing helmets if mounted/driving, unless in show/show attire in which a helmet is optional.
  • The photograph(s) must be of an IALHA registered horse and the person submitting must be an IALHA member.
  • One photo submission form must accompany each photo subject(s)/photographer combination:

  • If a photo(s) is not taken at a USEF-licensed competition (for which photo permission was obtained with entry), contact the individual(s) and horse owner(s) to obtain permission to use their likenesses in US Equestrian promotions.
  • Photos must be at least 300 dpi in resolution and 4” x 6” in size (1200 pixels x 1800 pixels); larger images are preferable.
  • Highly edited (“photoshopped”), scanned, screen shot, photo proofs, or cell phone photos will not be accepted.
  • Entries for this project will be accepted through October 1st, 2020.

Procedure:

  • Email each high resolution photo and the corresponding completed form to: marketing@nullialha.org
  • If more than one entry is received that meet specifications for a particular discipline, style, etc, the IALHA Marketing and Publications committee will decide which are most appropriate to submit to USEF.  Selections made by the committees are final.
  • If a particular entry meets the qualifications for both the IALHA 2021 Calendar contest as well as the USEF photo library, please indicate that you would like it cross-entered, and include both entry forms with your email.
